BB Beware - I am so sorry to hear of your problems, I had heard of a couple of BB385 owners having several problems too, before the demise of BB and they were not very forthcoming then.

Did you take ownership before Hillyards took them over, or after?.

I would assume that if it was after then they would/should take the responsibility of any warranties or guarantees and put right any problems.

I hope that Hillyards build/advise better and take more responsibilty than it appears BB do or have done.

From Multihull Review, February 2009:

Broadblue went into liquidation in January 2009. Apparently the founder of Broadblue Furniture company, Mark Elliot, has teamed up with broker, Multihull World, to purchase the moulds of the 385 and 415/435. They're trying to also purchase the 500 moulds.

It's not clear where Hillyards fits into all of this.

BB version 1.0 was set up under the Broadblue Furniture company by a bunch of ex-Prout executives. I wonder if the ex-Prout people are involved in BB version 2.0?

It's a shame really, but I expect there will be quite a few more builders who'll share the same fate.

Broadblue furniture are planning to produce the 415; the secretary says in Essex; for their sakes I hope it is not Canvey Is!! If the same clown that ran BB into the buffers joins the new company I will not be very optimistic! He is not a sailor and the 415 needs some simple modifications to turn it from a boat show boat into a decent sailing boat. These simple mods need to be done during the build not after!

Broadblue furnishings have been helpful and supplied me with some trim etc. Wiith a new, untainted team they should do well, especially with the present exchange rate.

Make certain that they seal the area to the left of the sink...you know someone might drip something there and well, who knows what might happen. And don't cut any grapefruit there either because if might leave a drop or two as well and you know, it wouldn't be fair to the girls, now would it? Of course not.
