Bridge Deck Accomodation

Hello,

does anyone know of a cat, other than the privillege owners version, that has a cabin across the bridge deck as opposed to in the hulls?

Another question.

About 5 years ago I saw an ad for a cat in Hawaii that seemed to have wave piercing hulls with all the rest of the boat well above the hulls. Much like a hobie cat that made it to the big time. does anyone know of this boat or any like it? How does it perform, who made it, just a general discussion of it's pros and cons.

On a similar note ther was a catamaran in the Richmond, Ca yacht club quite some time ago that looked almost like a movie prop. Quite large maybe 70 feet long. It looked somewhat like a spider with a control room and I assume to be accomodation on cross members that curved in a large arc up from the hulls. At that time I believe it was motorized but there were rumors of sea trials and possiblly sails but that could have been bunk. It disappeared after a couple of months. Does anyone know anything about this boat.

thanks Shawn

Prouts used to have an option of the owners berth being just fwd of the salon certainly on the 45/46. Probably not on the 38. I presume Broadblue had it as well on their bigger versions.

The Discovery 50 was at this year's Miami Boat Show. I was impressed (until I saw the price).

Re: bridge deck accomodation

You can never have too much bridgedeck clearance.

The big Matrix 74' also has the forward cabin. $4 mill. Check the other recent threads on noise and pounding in this cabin BOB

You don't say where in the world you are, what size you'd like or how many people this would be for.

If you don't mind an older boat, what you're looking for is either a Catalac (ranging from 8-12 meters in length) or a Dean 365. If in the US then they will be rare out there as they are European boats.

A common US made boat is the Gemini 105mc. These were designed by a guy who used to work for Catalac and share a similar layout with the owners double berth over the bridgedeck in front of the saloon.

I am presently buying a Catalac 900 and have attached a pic of the layout which I think is what you're after.

If memory serves me correct. The spider is a U.S. Navy boat?

My cat has a queen berth behind the mast, and salon table.......i2f

Re: bridge deck accomodation

Hi The Manta 44' Power Cat has a large salon at the bridge deck level and a larger salon up at cockpit level. We have entertained 15+ on board and can seat 8 for dinner at the bridge deck salon table. Email me for more details on Pangaea. You can see her at Tethys-Society.org

Re: bridge deck accomodation

Thanks to all for the info.

Imagine2frollic I would be very surprised to find that the spider is US navy. While it was in Richmond the people working on it were very definately non military people, or very deep under cover. Additionally the rules about fratenizing among the ranks would have to have been radically changed.

Simonmd I am on the west coast of these united states. I am trying to address the issue of both parties being able to get out of a bunk without crawling over someone on the way to that midnight rendevous with the head. This has been an issue on pretty much every boat we have chartered, which annoys my good woman mightily.

DotDon your link took me to Discovery mono hulls I will try searching for a Discovery multihull.
