Big Family NEEDS Big Cat, Medium Budget !

Hi All !

Currently family of 8 and maybe growing !!! cruising aboard our Lagoon 450F these last 2 years now in need of a bigger cat but sticking to the $500k USD price range. Currently in Grenada hiding from hurricanes and insurance hikes !

Wants: older boat, better sailing, more deck space, no fly bridge, lower displacement / length ratio than our Lagoon 450 (~200 loaded).

We don’t stay in marinas. I do instal / maintain my systems. We do want to passage as a family. We currently live off solar with no diesel genset and AGM’s so not power hogs. We use 40 gallons of water per day...go solar !
and Cruise RO !

I will deliver our L450F OV to Florida to sell with our broker. But would like to move onto a different boat first in the Caribbean.

Young kids but capable hands, the only help they need while docking / handling is for ‘helpful’ adults to stay out of their way...hehe, you know what I speak of.

Boats on our short list in order (we have been aboard all):

Fountain Pajot 60
Privilege 655
Lagoon 570
Lagoon 57
Custom Cats...

Looking for something structurally sound but cosmetics don't matter. We want to make it a home, paint walls, make bunk beds, go crazy.

Realistic monthly maintenance budget: ~$1,500 USD (obviously doesn't include insurance taxes registration upgrades fuel dockage family needs, and I’ve had only 2 technicians aboard in 2 years) This aspect will be tough I know.

Resale not a big concern. We know older longer boats are hard to sell...

THANKS !!!

Re: Big Family NEEDS Big Cat, Medium Budget !

Thanks for the responses so far...all boats in the greater Caribbean or American east coast are within reach. We’d like to move aboard directly from our boat before selling her.

Inquiring about the Alex Simmons 65...anyone with knowledge about those vessels please share.
