Hey Cliff, my wife and I spent about 2 hours on each of the cats at Annapolis on the rainy Monday (Antares, FP, Leopard and Saint Francis). We talked to current Saint Francis owners, and of course they seemed very pleased. We liked it the best as far as looks goes. I can't recall any of the other specifics like skegged rudders, or engine compartments or sail drives vs. shaft. It is definitely on our short list.

Skegged rudders and shaft drives are a big one for me. Not to mention the protected helm.

Re: Best cat for extended cruising

It's fascinating to watch others go through the boat search process. It really stirs recollections of the same, long process here. Fortunately it was a great outcome for us...and with such a great resource pool as this and other similar spots, we hope you'll each find what best suits you.

We wish you all well! ...and enjoy the journey as we certainly enjoyed some fun moments and met some great people during our search!!

I wish they would build a LOT more of the Antares 44i boats, because I would like to get my hand on a used one in the future.

Looking at how they have designed the boat for couples to run and long term cruising, it looks like a beautiful and nicely designed cat.

Re: Best cat for extended cruising

Always a lot of fun looking and you can never look at toooooo many cats.
If I had the option I'd go for a 42 - 46 Leopard. Again it really is a very individual thing. I like their layout but what truly impressed me was the quality of finish throughout even in those rairly seen areas.

Re: Best cat for extended cruising

I like the FP's and Privileges. Huge difference in price however.

Came across some Broadblues on yachtworld, are there opinions about those? Would be really interested about Broadblue 385 and/or 435!
