Aventura 45 reviews

Hello everybody,

My wife, our four kids (aged between 3 and 10 years old), and I are looking to buy a catamaran. We've been searching for months now, and if the decision were mine alone, I would go for pure performance—daggerboards, slim hulls, high bridge deck, etc. But the children prefer more space and comfort, and I can’t say they’re wrong.

We've been looking at FP, Nautitech, Lagoon, Bali, and Leopard (all between 45 and 52 feet), but there was always something that didn’t quite fit. Then we came across the Aventura 45 through Dave from Naval Gazing at Camp David.

For us, it checks all the boxes: a five-cabin option, fly lounge, forward cockpit, helm positioning, reasonable price tag, and—on paper—surprisingly good performance.

Did anyone see one in Cannes last year or elsewhere? Or better yet, has anyone sailed one? Does anyone have experience with the company or the people behind it?

I've spoken to The Multihull Company, and they said, "They are nowhere near the quality of the mainstream builders," which, of course, concerns me. I’ve also heard doubts about their offshore capabilities from other sources.

So if anyone has good information, please let me know.

Greets,
Alexander

Very beautiful, some doubts about the sailing quality and I would like to understand better the structural solidity, but the price should be good

What Multihull Company has quoted is very close to reality.. They are a new company missimg a bit of professionalism and I'd doubted very much that they have any kind of after sale service or warranty..
You can also take out of yr list Bali very easily.. It's not easy to find a good compromise beetween performance and comfort but new Leopard 45 can be one of them if you can afford 800.000 usd for a full one.

All boats have problems, some more than others it seems...we all heard of Lagoon 450 bulkhead issues, and Leopard 45 has problems too, no exceptions;

@OP, what is your planned use for it, and what is your sailing experience? Asking because if you are just doing coastal cruising, maybe even with single overnights, you are probably not putting yourself and family in any danger. OTH, if you are planning ocean crossings with your family, I don't know if there is any data on this brand doing that whereas the FP/Lagoon/Leapord/HH/Bali/Nautitech have many miles of proven seaworthiness.

Re: Aventura 45 reviews

Having just recently spent a week on a FP lucia 40 with a fly bridge, sailing around the islands. I can say that the current cabin forward fly bridge cats are not good for sail handling. The fly bridge moves the mainsail even further up the mast, raising the center of effort, making sail handling more difficult. The motion at the helm that high up isn't great.

Personally I think Outremer has a much better setup. Lower down cockpit, Lower center of effort, easier sail handling setup and better hull shape. Even the old Vovyage 430/440 designs are better ( and much faster)

I will admit moving the bridge up and away from the aft cockpit does make the aft deck more open and part-able.

We felt the same way saw the boat in Cannes and are now under contract to have one built for us. June 15 we are traveling to Saint-Tropez to charter one for 5 nights to complete our test sail and make our final decision. Will comment back on how it performs. We had a consultant look into the construction of the boat and are impressed by the quality and it should sail well considering the weight stiffness of the boat and design of the hulls.

Thanks for all your replies!

We did a seatrial with an independet surveyor and she said that the boat is a good build but lacks a bit on finishing touches (mostly optical).

So we ordered one and it is being delivered in february. It is really going to be an interesting project as it will be outfitted with electrical oceanvolt engines and 2 whisper power gensets (I'm sailibg with my 4 kids and wife so I want to be better safe than sorry)

Re: Aventura 45 reviews

Can you give us a rough ballpark of what you are paying for this. I know the other 45s are going for $1M range fully equipped.

Re: Aventura 45 reviews

We are still figuring out our option list which will be completed while on the trip once I have that I'll let you know the final cost but expecting it to be just shy of $1m. When looking at this model we were also considering the Fountaine pajot elba, Tanna and Aura and the leopard 46 but this one met all wish list items.

Re: Aventura 45 reviews

were the ocean volt engines the factory option or are you having them put in aftermarket?

Re: Aventura 45 reviews

Many, many sailors have learned the lesson - "Never buy one of the first 10 hulls of a model"

Most recently the Wynns.

With catamarans where weight is so important - boats almosts always get heavier as they move from design to production. This is especially true for a new company who isn't just making minor changes to a previous design.

Re: Aventura 45 reviews

We are around €1M yes. But than she is a fully equipped boat with Nuteak everywhere, even the gangways. (but no dingy/Swimplatform, we opted for davits).
Oceanvolt is indeed on the option list

Re: Aventura 45 reviews

Go buy one of the used Balance 442’s sitting on the market for about the same money. Boats are just a few years old which means you will just miss the “new boat blues”.

Nuts to even consider spending 1M on like this when there are some fantastic used alternatives.

Re: Aventura 45 reviews

Thanks for your opinion but the balance is not what we are looking for although i like it very much.
But no 5 cabin layout, no flybridge/lounge, no forward cockpit... I couldn't find anything under 45ft with all of these boxes ticked
