Re: Atlantic Delivery

Wotname,

Maybe you're right about that; if so, a stop for fuel could also give him a chance to compare some long range forecasts for the rest of the trip.

So far, he's threaded the needle as if he had forecasting, but maybe he's done it so much he knows from observation of sky state what's coming and from where.

FAIR WINDS, BOATIE!

Ann

Wouldn't that be something! I wouldn't leave Boston for Provincetown without a forecast.

Re: Atlantic Delivery

They may need fuel but he seems to be doing pretty well finding the wind. This tool lets you plug in his coordinates and see what the wind is now and you can look at the future predictions too:

earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-36.51,35.38,2048

PS: Put the coordinates into the URL as lon, lat, zoom and his position should be in the center of the image.

I've been playing with this since one of the forum members posted it(could have been you...lol). I must say it has some cool graphics and features. Seeing where it gets its data further impresses me and I find it to be as accurate as any other wind forecast because it gets its data from the same sources.

If Boatman does or doesn't have weather info he has done a remarkable job navigating in and around the weather out there.

I look forward to hear him tell all of us about his journey!

All this thing is REALLY tricky, given the time.

Anyway - hard to believe he will get the opportunity to go for Madeira, i think. Too much of headwinds rather...

Just hope he will be not stucked in something really bad!

And now he is going straight for Horta

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Given whats predicted and the weather approaching both maderia & Gib etc. I can see a stop in the Azores now being a reasonable choice

Re: Atlantic Delivery

+1. Much better to wait for a perfwct window from a safe refuge at this point.
