Casual, Pwdrskr, et al,
Yeah, I'm following Phil across like everyone else here....I mean, an eastbound US to EU North Atlantic
passage in FEBRUARY....
Brrr cold....and a fairly stinky
weather at times!!
My hat is off to him as well!!
And, while I understand the nearly-live
tracking that many are thrilled with, and the ability for us all to comment/speculate on what's happening out there....FYI, there are many others' historical tracks that you can see, evaluate, etc. and see where they had to change course drastically due to
weather systems, forecasts, etc...

Just as an example, here is my track from 2007....Eastbound in June/July....(and Westbound in Nov/Dec..)
Looking at my track, you can see a significant course change near 71* W, continued on for three days, taken due to significant weather (full gale/storm force winds) ahead....and then an abrupt course change near 63* W (favorable
wind shift after frontal passage)....
And farther along another abrupt course change near 49* W, taken due to
head winds (and squalls), then returning to my desired course a day and a half later, as favorable winds filled in...
There are many such sailing tracks out there....and while I'm not a blog person, you can find some of these tracks on sailing blogs....or better yet, just ask around, post questions here and on the SSCA disc boards, etc. asking for details on passages / tracks and weather influences!!
You can get an education from those as well..
Just thought some might want to some other tracks to look at, after Phil arrives....
Fair winds.
