Re: Atlantic Delivery

Damn, I'd seriously think about a run to Bermuda seeing what the forecast looks like. Hope he has provisioned for the worst and the vessel is holding up.

This is so epic!

Good Luck Boatman!!!

Atlantic Delivery

No he won't go into Bermuda. It's not the way delivery skippers think.

I think he's trying to stay as south as possible but not get headed by the trades. It's a narrow window and has he climbs north it's going to get tricky.

What I don't understand his is recent very sharp turn south. It must be he's experiencing bigger sea from that direction and has started heading into them, because otherwise it's not a useful
course.

Update Silly me , should of looked at the Gribs , it suggests he's run into a headwind and he must be able to get Gribs on board , he's decided to drop south in theory to pick up some southeries. He does not want to run north at the moment so he's not got much choice

Re: Atlantic Delivery

looks like he is good to go for the next 5 days or so,keeping on a ENE heading once the current trough bringing headwinds passes.

he may come unstuck as he gets closer to the azores if he does not have access to weather info, currently if heading for madeira he will find the NE trades much sooner than if heading for a point north of the azores.

it looks like there is an area of low pressure forming to the south of the azores next week, that he will need to be north of if he is to keep the SW-W winds.

without weather info,my guess is he will aim for madiera, and get headed by the NE'les next week, when he ideally wants to be on a more northerly heading.

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Going to catch a little sun in Antigua methinks, and then back up once the weather settles down.

The best part of the thread for me is reading these kind of comments from guys we "know" that have been there and done that. So many CF posters have mucho experience, I hesitate to highlight these two but dang!, this is wot I signed on for.

Thanks to all of you who actually know wot yer talkin' about!

Well Jimmy Jazz, you will have to wait until he makes landfall to ask him because nobody knows.

I will say that so far the wind has really been to his favor and Phil has taken advantage of it perfectly. Pretty impressive - or lucky. It would be interesting to know how well the grib's match the actual conditions.

Re: Atlantic Delivery

As I see it, he got headed , can't go north, gribs suggest southeries below him so he's gone searching
