So now the real speculation has to start-Who gets the roles when Boaty sells the movie rights? For the female crew I might go with Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock. We need a British actor for Boaty though, one with that tough Brit exterior but with a caring heart. Any suggestions?

Far out, guys.

I remember suggesting bringing another competent crew on a cruising trip where I served as sailing master.

The "older" owner was all in favour. The person I was suggesting came from a famous sailing family in Australia; the father was a highly regarded cruising yacht designer, and one of the boys subsequently sailed for Australia in several America's Cups.

Everything was looking peachy until the owner suddenly joined some dots and realised the proposed crew was a woman. Worse, she was one of that notorious and dangerous species: Young women!

His attitude changed completely. Firstly, he said, his wife would NEVER permit it. He wouldn't even put it to her.

(Pressed for a reason, he said it was because the woman in question and I were not romantically entangled; therefore she was "available". Sheeesh !)

Secondly, he refused to believe we had not at any point romantically entangled.
We had met through skiing. I had a professional involvement in a sector of the ski industry which he considered (evidently with a degree of prurient interest, verging on envy) to be licentious. Case dismissed.

Much "Benny Hill" innuendo and speculation was attached to this fantasy.

Now that the dust is settling, I'd like to say thank you to ka4wja for posting the weather information. I found it particularly useful in understanding Boatie's routing.

It will be good to hear from Boatie when he has the time.

Woo hoo. Nice execution Atoll. All in all I would think to get the delivery done safely and quicker is better then drifting in.

I would not mind it if it was my own home and I'm just drifting in but when on someone else's time I'd appreciate a hand to get in.

When at sea, it takes a while....waiting for the wefax'es to print out, etc. and then going over them takes a few minutes as well....but when here on-shore, it doesn't take too long....

FYI, all the charts that I used are all updated and transmitted multiple times each day, on multiple freqs, from powerful 4000 watt transmitters, all for FREE (paid for by US tax dollars...)
And, they are all also available for FREE on-line at the NWS Marine Weather Home Page (which has just about every link to every weather product you could ever need..)

Now, the knowledge/expertise to know what charts, how-to-interpret them, etc.....well, yeah that is mine!!!
