Looking for recommendations and ideas for a type of spinaker for cat. I've got a Prout 38 design, the aft
mast rig with a bigger fore triangle. 17.5 foot beam, and a solid foredeck - no net.
One idea is an assymetric tacked to a
bridle. It can be move to winward, out of the mains shadow. Probably launched with a sock, and stored.
Often used on cats is a screecher tacked to a pole. The
Gemini used a slightly curled track where the screecher was tacked. My
boat doesn't have a pole. Putting in a pole doesn't look to be on my horizon.
What about both? What do you think about having a screecher on a continuous
furler, which is tacked to a
bridle? I don't know whether the
furler would need a more rigid attachment then a bridle could provide. Maybe the continuous furler would not handle being moved, the
furling line has to go somewhere.
Has this been done?
