Re: Anywhere catamaran can't go?

Narrow waterways, I have been in places where 8 ft beam is still hitting things on either side.

As for heating, why not just heat one hull?

If I’m heating any boat it means I’ve made a poor choice of destinations.🥶

... On the mountains would be difficult with a beamy cat.
But you you can trailer a small mono or a beach cat trough the serpentines on a Alps pass.

There's great cold water

What about the Puget Sound and the entire PNW SMJ? Remind me again why it sucks to be here?
If your running the air conditioning on your boat then perhaps you shouldn't be there either.

Re: Anywhere catamaran can't go?

Went sailing on New Years Day. Actually motored for the first few hours because it was glassy. Good wind in the afternoon. 53 degrees and beautiful. I hated it. I had a long sleeve shirt on also.

I would prefer to be hanging on to my upturned Cat than standing on the deck of a Mono five miles below the surface, Hahahahaha

Two quotes from two different threads you started on the same day (about 12hours apart)...

Did you literally change your mind from cat to monohull back to cat in 12hours and decide to start a new thread, or did you just decide this was the best way to "test the waters" of both and make your final decision?

or (im guessing), were you just looking to stir up a couple more cat vs mono debates??

This got me curious, are there any other places I'd be missing out on being able to go by having a catamaran? Looking online it seems possible to go from Netherlands all the way through to the Black Sea (and then to Mediterranean) on a catamaran. Same with from Atlantic to the Great Lakes. But both of these require removing the mast, and while there seem to be plenty of videos online of monohulls with their mast lying on frame on the deck, I haven't seen any of such example of this on a catamaran. Is this even a thing on catamarans?

Anyway I'd be curious if there are any places catamaran owners miss out on being able to go. (I did ask a question similar to this on the monohull forum, please forgive me for somewhat double dipping).
Most cats cannot go into the vast majority or travel lifts.
