Any Schionning Wilderness 1480 owners here?
I'm the third owner of one of these beauties, I'm looking for some help, I have lost the port rudder and have had no luck with a response from schionning, I have been trying since Aug 2020. The only information about the builder is it was built in Molka, Victoria, Australia, a quick google search shows it's in the middle of the state.
I'm wondering if any owners still have any plans or schematics for their boat, also I would love to know the pos info so I can setup my predict wind.

I thought the office was in Port Stephens, not far and I heard Jeff was a pretty approachable bloke, so hoping I could call in and have a chat. So I called and was transferred to South Africa but the person I needed to speak to was away working, no problem I said I will email my questions and he can respond when he gets back, I think his name was Rob.
I waited a month and emailed again, I know how easy it is for emails to get buried in your inbox and even tried facebook contact, each time the response was we'll get back to you.
I appreciate their a busy company and probably not so focused on older boats these days, hence my cry for help from owners or maybe somebody else got their boat built in Molka.

I thought they were in Port Stevens too.
They were originally from South Africa were they not ?
I think persistence is going to be your best tool here, and I wouldn’t give them the option of ignoring your emails, badger them by phone.

I believe that Jeff was originally from South Africa, I'll keep trying I can't get by without a rudder
This from another schionning post

How about taking a mould off the starboard rudder and going from there? Rudders are pretty easy to build.
It's getting on for a year later. Just build one.

Schoinning designs and sells catamaran kits and has never had a dedicated yard that I'm aware of. Consequently, there's a lot of inconsistency in the builds as the backyard builders don't have the facilities that the professional yards have. Unless you know that your boat was built to spec by a professional yard, you have no way of knowing how the original rudders were actually built . Save yourself some money (I've heard of prices over 10 grand to have a shop make a rudder), and build your own based on what the remaining one looks like and they should weigh the same (which is the tricky part) as you really can only guess as to what's inside.

He usually responds with some persistence. Can you get on the Schionning owners Facebook page, he does get on there. If not you may get exactly what your after from someone else.

Thanks for the tips, I guess as suggested I'll make a copy of the other one. As you can see there is nothing left.

Re: Any Schionning Wilderness 1480 owners here?
I do have the plans for a Wilderness 1480, but chances are you want to check your remaining rudder anyway and might need to do some repairs on it. At that time copy and/or improve to make a new one.
