(Almost) free cat anyone?

Not something I'd normally share but a friends Facebook from yesterday had the following snipit

Prepare to be boarded! A rather worrying visit to the neighbouring boat from the (armed) coastguard. He was taken ashore (without his dog) a few hours ago and we have not seen him since. I did offer to take the dog on our boat but the owner declined so we had better check on him in the morning.

And today's update

An update on the visit of the gunboat yesterday. Appears we won't be having our next door neighbour across for a sundowner any time soon. Turns out he hired the boat in the Med for a week and then disappeared only to turn up here in the Caribbean nearly a month later. He is locked up and to be sent home to face charges. Anyone interested in delivering a $1m 50ft cat back to the owners?

Re: (Almost) free cat anyone?

Do I have to take the dog as well?

We know that cats can't sail, so can I motor all the way home?

Re: (Almost) free cat anyone?

I am surprised that the dog (an obvious accomplice and co-conspirator) was allowed to go free and not impounded (no pun intended) with the cat.

Re: (Almost) free cat anyone?

We received a notice from the insurance company that a charter boat (Saba 50) had been stollen from Croatia by a German guy with a dog and he was suspected to take the boat to Caribbean. Must be this one ..

Beth... If you really are trying to convince others to be the new caretakers of kitty... I think you need to post a picture with less obvious "cattitude"!

That look speaks volumes about who's boss !

Re: (Almost) free cat anyone?

You have to hand it to him, he went all out with the Saba. He could have gone a bit more low key with an older smaller cat. Stupid for anchoring in SMX lagoon though, one if the most public and policed places in the Caribbean. I think he could have got away with a lot longer by sticking to low key, less policed anchorages

I would but Toby (the cat's name) might get mad at me. Then I would suffer months of punishment....

You have to take into account the relative intelligence of someone who would do this to begin with.
Wonder how long his next "Vacation" will be?

On edit, I think you got the title to the thread wrong, should have said really, really expensive Cat as I think he will spend years paying it off

Re: (Almost) free cat anyone?

I got rid of a dog today, had to tell a person at work that if I couldn't find him a home, I guess I would have to shoot him.
I think they believed me
