Ac install recommendations, Miami area

First of all, I’ve been here long enough to know a lot of you don’t feel the need for air-conditioning or the need to have another system to repair on your boats.

Got it, I understand and appreciate your positions on air-conditioning .

We feel differently and want a professional install of air-conditioning and are looking for recommendations In Florida on the East Coast. I’ve contacted Just Catamarans but would like other recommendations as well.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Give Nick a call at Mabru Power systems, Fort Lauderdale

He's just done a full install on our 450 and did a great job.

Think about an air cooled roof top unit before you decide. No they Hull, better location for cooling and 1/3 ed the price.

If you are anywhere near Cape Canaveral, Paul Poulakis, 321-626-4234, 423-895-0011.

He has done several jobs including installation of air conditioning on two separate vessels. He's an excellent all-around Marine technician. I would not have him rebuild my Perkins diesel, but anything else in my boat, I would have him do in a heartbeat.

Hi Dave,
how much was it to install the Air-Con an your L450 (incl. taxes)? Which brand was it, how many BTU? Are you still happy with your decision not having purchesed the Air-Con Lagoon is offering?

Thank you very much!

Yes. I'm very happy!
I've 4 units and can run all 4 inc the 2 pumps for 12amps. This was my big aim so I can run the AC on battery.
Mabru also installed units that run on both 50 and 60hz so good for both sides of the pond.
17k btu in saloon
7.2btu in owners cabin
4.2btu in each port side cabin

Mabru is a family owned and run business and I loved giving them my custom.
$16,500

I mentioned in your other thread that you might want 60hz so you can plug in at the dock. But you said it was going to be 50hz and run through the inverter. So can you plug in in the US now?

Well I don't actually have a need for 60hz (our boat is EU 240v and 50hz) but yes, we did plug in shore power in the states and were able to use everything on the boat, including the new AC.

Re: Ac install recommendations, Miami area

great info! thanks for all the replies.

We ended up offering today and getting accepted for a Catamaran that has AC and a generator installed. If something is amiss on the survey then I will keep this in mind. $16K for an owners version that can run on Lithium (with soft start I assume) is less than I expected.

thanks again!
