Not a chance! Another crazy but highly skilled Frenchman will just do 900+ to beat the record!

That has been the history for quite a few years now... what was incredible a few years ago is commonplace now. It is at the same time inspirational and damn scary... contemplating being in the same seas with huge multihulls going at highway speeds with the skipper having a nap... even Frenchmen sleep occasionally.

The similarities are obvious.

The only thing better than sarcasm is very subtle sarcasm! That was truly funny!

Re: 808 miles in 24 hours, single handed!

The next record (if he beats it that time) will probably come from a full foiling tri, like Gitana, Banque pop IX or the coming Sodebo, or in fact Macif itself that should be put in full foiling configuration after this attempt.

And in fact they will have a race all together in 2019 I think, (round the world vendée style), that will be something !

Re: 808 miles in 24 hours, single handed!

Circumnavigation completed in a record 42 days, 16 hours, 40 minutes and 35 seconds.

that's 6 days faster than the previous record holder (Coville), and barely a day slower than the crewed version (Joyon)...

For me two things stand out. One is that in 2004 it was 70 days and how relaxed and cleaned up he always looks. Simply amazing.
