26' Diamond Catamaran, 1980

Hi there. this is my first visit and post. i have recently purchased and subsequently stripped a 1980 Diamond Catamaran. i am about to undertake the refit and need any other Diamond owner to give some advise on any shortcomings/tips they may have? this is my first boat and the plan is to head off in 5 years time from South Africa on a 1 year adventure with the family. i do know the boat is not the one that is going to undertake the voyage but it is a start.............all cruising tips gladly read. Cheers Rory

Saw Diamond Cat and got excited.

I always wanted to get a couple of Diamond's like in the pic and cut off the keel (ply with a lead bulb)put in some dagger boards and build some curved Ply box beams to join it up, leave the rig's in and have a go at a poor man's Team Phillips (but with better results for a much lesser cost)

I bought this boat for $3000AUD, flogged the crap out of it for 3 years, and sold her for same.

This included a hard stand trolley.

Best bang for buck I ever had, and blisteringly quick (mid teens)

Good luck with it Rory, post some pic's and welcome aboard.
