1997 45 FOOT LEOPARD CATAMARAN
Riviera Beach, FL
At a government auction with 3 days to go and at $76250 at this time.
Would it cost more than it can be worth to make it worthy?

Re: 1997 45 FOOT LEOPARD CATAMARAN
Hard to say. They are worth about $275,000. How many hours on the engines, do they run, does everything work? Is everything there? $75,000 is a steal Even if you could get it for under $150,000 it that would still give you a lot of leeway to fix stuff and get it up to average for it's age. Do plan on cash outlay after purchase. Maybe a lot of cash. BOB

It is a bad link. Have you been to see it? Any bullet holes? I agree with Sand crab, but know that there is a reason it is being offered at government auction. Definitely worth checking out.

Re: 1997 45 FOOT LEOPARD CATAMARAN
My brother in law bought one 5 months ago for $ 190 000 and a good friend just bought one for 205 000. So $ 275 000 is a bit optimistic !

Re: 1997 45 FOOT LEOPARD CATAMARAN
I`m a member so all I have to do is click on home and it comes up. I can`t see what comes up on another computer though. The timing is just off for me though because the closing on my house is not till the end of May and just can`t take the chance on it. It does not look bad in the photos other than a missing prop but it may have rotted off and who knows how far that may have led. It`s now up to $80,250 and being an auction who knows where it will stop. It states (VESSEL WAS A GOVERNMENT SEIZURE AND WAS KEPT IN WATER FOR 2 YEARS BEFORE BEING REMOVED INTO DRY DOCK. INSPECTION RECOMMENDED.) I`m in Connecticut and it is in Florida. I am sure that the high bidder is going to be someone who was able to see the boat and asses it`s needs. I just thought it to be an interesting PROJECT but one that will take lots of time and $$$$$.
regards, Chris.

Thanks Chris for thinking of us. It is definitely very interesting. Wish that I could see the pics of it myself.

We're close to of the same mind. After seeing the pics, and seeing the "complete" nature of the vessel, I was going to peg the final auction price at about $135k. Much less than that & I'd worry since the Marina owners are showing the vessel. If it's a great deal, then at least one of the many viewing it wouldn't watch it go for much less than that. One thing is clear, it certainly isn't a derelict vessel. By the looks of it. I'd give 10-1 odds it was part of an asset seizure due to back taxes. That vessel looks well cared for.

I took pictures last Friday (190 of them). It's a project that's for sure! Not sure what dollars it might take to make it good, I guess it just depends on your standards.

Were the deficiencies fit/finish, systems degradation, or more severe in your estimation? Any clue as to the hours on those motors?

Closed at $135,750 I guess it was not a bad boat or somebody got caught up in the bidding.
