I have used the search and I think I have an idea of what would be best, but I just want to make sure I am not missing anything.
I have a new to me cutter
rigged Prout Quasar
50 that needs new sails
. Right now the genoa
is a 150%. I was thinking of going down to a 135% but I still want ok light wind
performance. I was thinking I could pick up an asymmetrical spinnaker
for really light wind
I will be sailing around BC Canada
for the next year & 8 months. I will be sailing down to the south pacific
in less than 2 years, and plan on a lot of Bluewater passage
I would like a genoa
that is good till around 20 knots of wind. Would there be any sense in replacing it with another 150% and using the staysail in winds over 20 knots? Or would a 135% be more than enough in lighter winds?
both the head
sail and stay sail are on rollers so it will be easy to change one for the other
I plan on doing some light racing
but will not risk any damage to the rig to win a race
, more just out there for the fun of it
The rig measurements are I 54' J 18' 3" P 48'11" E 16'1"
If there is any more information you need just let me know. Its $9000 for a new main and head
sail so i want to be sure i'm doing this right.
