I saw "Golightly" last week. It looks like a fine boat somewhat like a Valiant 40. How is that bottom job coming? Have you been washing it down as much as possible? It is very important to wash the bottom.

The bottom job is coming along nicely, have kept the bottom clean. Irwinsailor I took some of your hull polishing advise on another thread, it has never looked so good. Thanks for the advice.

Have a 1975 45-foot Van de Stadt cutter. Hopefully I can post some pictures soon.

She's a great liveaboard and a fast and sturdy cruiser. She was built for the demanding sailing of the S. African coast and has many thousands of seamiles under her keel. Currently undergoing a refit while we liveaboard (gluttons for punishment).

Mine is a Wauquiez Hood 38. 38ft sloop designed by Ted Hood, built by Wauquiez in France. Fast, sleek and very comfortable. She may be my last and ultimate boat.

(btw, I also started out with a Catalina 25 and later a Catalina 30)

I guess my statement about there not being any perfect boat except the one you want next does not apply to John and his wonderful boat. I hope to be there sometime but for now, I happily sail a C&C 29 MkII here on Lake Ontario.

We have a 2001 Dehler 36...Racer-Cruiser very fast and comfortable boat.
We also have a V-15 dinghy which we race with my wife.

My wife Ruth and I sail an Alberg 29 out of Tacoma Washington. Triska is Hull #131 and built by Nye Yachts of Ontario Canada in 1983.

I have a Farr 11.6 (Farr 38). These are hard boats to classify. They were designed as performance offshore cruisers but as a 10,500 lb 38 foot fractional rigged sloop, they do not fit the more traditional image of an offshore boat. Mine was single-handed in from South Africa. They are quite fast and I have been able to both cruise and race mine quite successfully. I partially chose this model for its ideal single-handing or short-handed sailing setup. I have added some pictures in the photo gallery.
