That is only the opening bid in an auction.

But also look at the engine usage. Replaced one engine and 2,500 hours on the 2nd ones rebuild, if I read it correctly.

Fat and comfortable, it’s a sail boat after all, and frankly they are all slow, even the fast ones, compared to a 125 cc scooter 🛵

Fair winds,

Don't under rate Hans Christian. They are not slow as some people say. Obviously they have not sailed on one for any length of time.
We were hove-to and it was very comg
We owned a Hans Christian 34 from 1977 thru 2017. And sailed, not motored, thousands of miles. We rode out 60+ knots over a 24 hour period. And it was comfortable.

We sailed from Long Beach California through the Panama canal and up to Washington DC. The first 1,200 miles we ran the engine for 30 hours mostly entering Anchorages.

If the Hans Christian 41 was being built when we bought our HC34 we would have bought it.

To bad they are not being built today

Re: YachtWorld Scavenger Hunt. Fast and agile or fat and comfortable?

Hey: One of my favorite exercises, too.
I start with my set of pilot charts and model the trip on a day by day basis. Then I model the stores required, water, food, and maintenance. Then I model stowage, weight, consumption rate and re-stowage following consumption.

Two things come up. One is that eating and cooking are resource consumers and the yacht's weight changes a lot over time. The other is that there is a fuel to food ratio. Drifting for days is expensive with regards to food and cooking fuel... maybe more so than burning diesel.

As for boats. I have delivered race boats and cruising boats long distances. A simple cruiser is more resilient than a racer/cruiser and charter boats are unsuitable.

Did you read Kihivas? It was written by Istvan Kopar who later competed in the GGR2018. He did something similar to what you propose.

Have fun...
Norm
