X-372 for liveaboard

Hi All,

I've been living in Boston on a Comar Comet 910Plus for 2 years now, and have been thinking that it would be nice to have a bit more space. For the most part, have been looking at performance cruisers in the 35-38 foot range. Right now, I'm particularly taken with a 1987 X-372 (the masthead sloop version) for sale in Vermont.

My (pre-survey) impression from visiting is that the boat is in pretty good condition. Pre-survey, I came up with a list of about 5 issues, the most concerning of which was some wet plywood at the deck-opening in the mast (I thought that the deck was cored with divinycell rather than balsa or plywood).

NB: I did look for rust in the bilge/exposed steel frames, but this part seems good.

Would anyone happen to have experience with older X-Yachts in general or with the X-372 in particular?

Re: X-372 for liveaboard

My brother has an X372 which he finds quite comfortable. The cockpit is a bit tight for large parties (more than 6). Passing things like sandwiches or drinks up from below requires bringing them up: it is too far to reach comfortably. The bunks are a good size and overall workmanship is pretty good. The boat sails nicely, and is pretty quick on a reach. On other points of sail we enjoy passing him in our J/36.
