Quite. The boss is always responsible. He's probably blaming his wife now.

OK, so who wants to sail on A or this? https://www.stadamsterdam.com/ Your basic beauty or the beast question.

I see this just like the cars you see and hear with the loud stereos that thump, the wagon sized wheels and garish paint jobs and maybe neon lights under them.
Their sole purpose is to say "look at me".
Sailing yacht A has accomplished that as here we are saying, "look at that thing", just like when the stupid car that goes thump drives by, we all look. With disdain yes, but they got looked at and talked about, and they wanted attention and got it.

Re: World's Largest Sailing Yacht A

There is a lot we dont know about the vessel. It is being leased and used by different companies for testing various components and electronics...

Its not a hull design that is familiar or comforting. It definitely jars a response from a person... The only thing I REALLY dislike is the bend in the top of each mast...

Id like to see whats inside and be on it in weather.

Re: World's Largest Sailing Yacht A

I think "sailing" is not the real purpose of this vessel. It seems to be built as a floating military fortress masquerading as a sailing ship. BTW is the hull titanium?

I recall reading an article a while ago in Yachting magazine that some of the Russian oligarchs had 500ft yachts which included an underwater bay for small to medium size submarine to enter. Supposedly this was designed just in case Putin or some such higher ups would want to visit or hold court incognito in international waters. Or for whatever nefarious reason they may come up with. After all, these guys, despite their much more polished media images, still think and operate as your good old mafiosi of the "Godfather" type. So we must look at this boat's design in light of these design requirements and not as a beauty contestant built to compete with Swans and Hinckleys.

@IslandTime

The hull is trusty old steel, superstructure aluminium.
Maybe some FRP in localised spots.
Masts are carbon.

Subs are not that extraordinary anymore on mega yachts. Even Paul Allens Octopus has one. Eclipse has also one (possibly two).

STAD only. You would only get me on "A", even for a banquet, if I were blind folded.
The fact that it was funded with ill gotten gains is even worse than the look.
Behind SOME, MASSIVE, wealth there is unapprehended immorality. Imho.
