Re: Who is your Favorite Boating Manufacturer
Shannon's are good boats and well built, not my cup of tea but I certainly understand those folks that love them.

While I haven't sailed them, just looking at pictures I do like these ones...

Re: Who is your Favorite Boating Manufacturer
Cape George can really put on the miles in trade winds, much faster than I imagined but they carry lots of sail.

I think Morris builds the best looking boats today!

Re: Who is your Favorite Boating Manufacturer
I have always loved Jonmeri Yachts. I am just not too keen on balsa cored hulls. I would say 1970s and 1980s Nautor Swans and Wauquiez would be my favorite.

Re: Who is your Favorite Boating Manufacturer
Oiy, most of the boats I love are out of my price range.
Hinckleys because they get the lines right but there isn't one for my particular needs even if I had the money.
Hylas because they deliver a heck of a boat for the price and will do custom layouts.
Outbound 52 because they got it right, but still out of my range.
Catalina for production boats because they deliver a heck of a bang for the buck and build them a bit stouter than most production boat builders.
Morris, just because they build a beautiful, well built boat, the attention to detail is superb.
Currently I own a Cheoy Lee because it was the best I could get for my needs and in budget.

Re: Who is your Favorite Boating Manufacturer
I'm weird, but no surprise there. I like the older boats, ideally with ratlines, baggywrinkles and perhaps a yard or two. Or a nice schooner.

Re: Who is your Favorite Boating Manufacturer
For my realistic boat I'm a Catalina guy through and through. They are well constructed and at a reasonable price. They are not overly flashy but also not chinzy.
Now if you are talking dream I hit it big boat then that's a whole different story.

De Vries Shipyard
Worked with Henk and the de Vries family for many years.
Special family, special workers that understood perfection and performance, while still having fun.

Gaft rigged ketches are nice . Needless to say, I need to add rat lines to the Rose.
