Where to put a 20m steel yacht on the hardstand?
Well heres a problem...my 20m steel yacht i just bought is located in melbourne and currently on the hardstand at a private property has to be removed ASAP. There appears to be no long term solutions for a 1-6 months stay on the hardstand anywhere in Melbourne that is affordable. Secondly, most yards will not take unregistered yachts which means they are not insured. If I can get it insured and registered, that half my problem solved. Thirdly, Im in Brisbane, and thats the easy part....Anyone know of a person in Melbourne who can handle my boat on thier property while I get it seaworthy?

I know here in the U.S. it is easier to get space at a truck storage yard.

Re: Where to put a 20m steel yacht on the hardstand?
Tim what you are asking sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. No one I know purchases a 20 meter steel yacht and worries about things being affordable. What is it going to cost to move such a monster?
Boatyards world wide are littered with projects like yours that get abandoned and become someone else's problem. Getting her registered should be easy, you will probably need a survey for insurance and that might be a problem if she is a real "project"
Have you looked for some industrial land you could lease until you are ready to go in the water? You might have to travel a fair way to find something at a reasonable cost.
Cheers

If it floats then a few hundred dollars or more, its a large heavy boat, should see it in the water and an anchor or mooring ball?

Re: Where to put a 20m steel yacht on the hardstand?
Lucky Luke 1 you are wildly of the mark if you think you can move a 20 meter steel yacht for a few hundred dollars. I doubt two thousand dollars will cover the crane, truck and escort vehicles needed to move that beast. Like you say a mooring would be the best solution. But then you have to find a yard where you can launch her.
Big project boats like this are usually very cheap for reasons like this.

Your probably right i was just going by container moving fees (approx $150 pick up and delivered here) and added a bit.

I don’t think 20metres and “ affordable “ should ever be used together

By road , two crane hires , escorts etc. I’d say you’d do well to keep it under $5000

A project boat on a anchor or mooring buoy is better known as ... abandoned
You need it on land, accessible , power , possibly shelter , or 20 years from now you’ll still be messing with it
Oh and a big budget to boot.

Re: Where to put a 20m steel yacht on the hardstand?
(just to keep the pretences up
width & height of the monster? (if it is say 5m wide this would get very expensive here in Europe, very! I'm not even sure it would be possible "from anywhere to anywhere" -tunnel & bridge heights,...). Oz will be different, but still...

Re: Where to put a 20m steel yacht on the hardstand?
Assuming the vessel was not built where it sits,... access back to open water is almost certainly feasible... at a price.
Making some massive assumptions:
Sounds like property has been sold... OP got boat for near free but needs to get it off property... ASAP. So keeping it where it is is not negotiable.
Would love more details on the vessel. And photo's.
I hope the OP has deep pockets...

FWIW, dimensions Bruce Roberts 64, steel:
LoA 19,5m, Beam 4,93m, draft 2,29m, weight 35,9t, height? (headroom 1,95m +...)
hmmm...
