Re: What yacht is this?

The picture is not easy to decipher but looks similar to the cheoy lee clipper 36. Bill Luder designed a variety of small clipper style sailboats back in the late 60s that were pirated by many taiwan yards. Cheoy Lee did have a contract with Luders and thus used the Luders name for a variety of yachts they producted from 1968-1986.
Be aware the clipper bow does plow a lot of water and thus your wasting a lot of energy doing so rather than just slipping through the water.Looks salty but the clipper bow really adds nothing to the sailing ability of the vessel except maybe some extra buoyancy in the bow. Its original purpose was to add support to the long bowsprits of the old clipper ships.
We had one a long time ago. The clipper bow would dig into waves, thus slowing the boat. Stop and start, over and over. Would not buy another clipper bowed boat again. But for a dock side boat to use as a chick magnate, it sure is hard to beat.

Re: What yacht is this?

Hi There, I lived on a 36'+ wooden ketch off Mexico. She was custom built by plans from the designer Victor Harasty, and looks so similar to this boat interior and exterior except the wheel, she had wooden rudder steering. May want to explore that? Cheers, Tishy

Re: What yacht is this?

How about it OP? While we are all trying to help you out, have you actually called the sellers as I suggested a day ago and also provided the numbers??? So I took it upon myself. It's a Windward 36 made near Taipei. The builder is Chunk Hwa. Congrats to Sailor Lou of Seattle who knows his boats. So there...I don't know why so often CF folks can't simply use the greatest database ever created and research 90% of the things they ask about on their own. How many times do we get comments such as "Did you check the HIN? OK? It's a Chunk Hwa or Chung Hwa.

Re: What yacht is this?

Paul,

I have not called the owner. My interest is intellectual and I would not call unless I had more serious intent . We are not looking to buy until August or September. OR we win the lottery, which ever comes first! But I appreciate that you did call. Thank you.

Re: What yacht is this?

Looks very much like a Rosbourgh Density Ketch produced in Nova Scotia.

Well, while you say your intent was not that serious to find out for yourself but you had a whole mess of others here on CF trying to help you out. ?????

Re: What yacht is this?

Generically known as the Formosa 36, although there may be variants sold under other names, especially in US.
Built in Taiwan.
Quite common in some areas and were used as live-pboards by several I have known.
Have one moored next to me in Sydney, very pretty and appear popular with their owners.

If this is a joke, I think it's pretty damn funny. If it's not a joke, I'm still laughin'.

The Ludders designed Cheoy Lee is different to this. This one is familiar as one that was Taiwan built, not Hong Kong, although if they borrowed some of Ludder's ideas, I would not know.

Re: What yacht is this?

It might be a BAYFIELD 36. An excellent boat, if it is.
Predecessor to the Gozzard 36.

Or maybe a Bayfield 32, and the listing LOA includes the bowsprit. Sneaky. Is it 36 on deck or LOA? Its kind of a big difference.
