What type of boat?

Can anyone tell me what type of boat this is? It’s always been in the water in front of my friends house. I’m pretty new to sailing but want to get more involved, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is! Thanks guys!

That's a dreamboat.

Buy it, park it, hold onto the dream...

Re: What type of boat?

Based on the visible hard edges and kind of hard chines in the hull plus rust streaks I would say a steel boat. Doesn't resemble any common design that I'm familiar with so very possibly a home built or one off.

Re: What type of boat?

I am putting my money on a Roberts, maybe a Spray design. She needs a new mast and I think it goes roughly where that air vent is on the deck. A quick sandblast/paint and she would look a lot better.
Cheers

Re: What type of boat?

Going to agree with a few of you..steel hull, possibly Spray design.

For all of you negative Nancies...if it was painted up, and had a proper rig on it, it would look much better. It was someone's dream boat...enough to build it. If it gets someone on the water...well I say good for them.

Re: What type of boat?

Re: What type of boat?

As has been said, it’s a steel hull, with either a jury rig mast (simply to return home from the disaster), or its a motorboat with a steadying sail.

I personally think it’s sort of attractive with fresh paint, and swap out the mast for either an appropriate motorboat mast or a proper sailing rig, depending on what the hull shape below the waterline is.

Re: What type of boat?

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Gary.
I think it may have been intended to be a sailboat.

Looks abandoned. An eyesore if it's outside your house.

Re: What type of boat?

Seems to be some sort of steel motor-sailer. Maybe it was ketch rigged at one point, since the existing rig is pretty far forward.
