what kind of day sailor is this?
I am supposed to checkout this sailboat here:
Oday Day Sailer 16" Sailboat
Owner thinks it is an Oday, however this looks a lot like Tanzer 16. The only thing that confuses me is that the backrests appear to be closed, not open like the Tanzer 16.
Any idea what this boat could be?

Post on an Oday specific forum--they'll ID it right away.

Re: what kind of day sailor is this?
FWIW,
A lot of years ago I owned an O'Day Osprey which was a very slightly smaller version of the Day Sailor. IIRC, they both had a small raised 'blister" in the foredeck which made a small cuddy space, good for small children and a beer cooler, etc. The boat in your picture does not have that feature, so I don't think it is a Day Sailor.
Can't help with what it really is, though... sorry!
Jim

Re: what kind of day sailor is this?
I can't say what it is, but I can tell you what it isn't. It is definitely not an O'Day daysailer, either model 1 or 2. I thought that it might possibly be an O'Day Javelin, but I don't think that's likely either. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: what kind of day sailor is this?
The O'day Dagsailer has a cuddy cabin forward so this is definitely not one of those. I seem to recall a Javelin that looked similar. James

Does it have an HIN on the transom?
this would give you the make, manufacturer and date of construction etc.

Re: what kind of day sailor is this?
Your seller is selling what he was told he has, not what it is.
The O'Day 16 Javelin line had an open equipment storage stuffing space with a raised deck. The real purpose was to get in there to guide the mast into the receiving ring. Your prior postees descriptions are correct. Circa 1976 O'Day updated the Javelin design with a better combing system and enclosed doors for the gear. An optional cooler was also offered in the seat.

Re: what kind of day sailor is this?
It looks a lot like a Clark C-lark 14. I wonder if Oday bought the mold from Clark? For some reason the boat doesn't look 16 to me....

Re: what kind of day sailor is this?
Definitely not an O'Day Daysailer. Bow and hull are consistent with the C-Lark: fast, fun but flimsy class of the '70's. Most are in landfill now, so if you can get your hands on it, beef up the hull with stringers and reinforce the stay plates. Then go sailing!

Not sure what it is but it is not a Tanzer 16. I had one and the bow line is too plumb and the interior of the cockpit is different. Good luck.

Although I am not 100% certain, it looks very much like a C Lark, which was the first boat I ever owned, many, many years ago. Speedy little devil if it is a C Lark.
