The French have many "integrated centerboard" boats. Large sections of the French coast are extensive shallow sandy tidal beaches. (Think: D-Day.) A good many ports also dry out at low tide. They like the idea of being able to come in near shore and beach the boat on the sand for a relaxed dinner. If you look at the website, they offer their hulls with centerboards, lifting keels, or fins, depending upon what you want. OVNI is French for UFO: objet volant non-identifié.

These boats are not only designed like that on account of the French Atlantic coast they are voyage boats, quite the contrary of a boat to have a lunch at the beach. Jimmy Cornell after circumnavigating 3 times says they are the best type of voyage boat. The last circumnavigation that took him 5 years has made in this boat, an 1998 OVNI 43:

He is building another one for another circumnavigation, same type other brand. I guess a guy that has made 200000nm in several types of boats knows something about what makes a good voyage boat

Yes they are awesome boats, but I think I would rather have a boreal. in any case no sense in admiring them if I can't afford one
