There is lots to comment on but I only a couple of big things.
I don’t know about the
water level, can’t really tell. I guess if the water came up there is enough
oil that it should have left a clear high tide mark, especially in the whiteish sound
panels.
I am a bit more concerned with the
exhaust elbow. That looks too much like a situation I had. The engine sits low and it needs the high
lift to prevent back-flow. The POTENTIAL problem is that with all that weight on the dry part of the
exhaust it gets quite heavy. Then the vibration can shear the bolts holding the elevated exhaust
elbow to the engine. So from one perspective this is a good solution to keeping water out of the engine. But it opens another problem, failure of the exhaust elbow.
And maybe that is why there is all that new wrap, it failed in some way and was repaired recently. Conjecture only.
Clearly you are looking at low cost
boats that need some love. And that is OK, I get it.
This being an older
boat it is unlikely this fault is fatal. I would figure the cost of a new exhaust elbow set up. And not ine cobbled together from black pile, something relatively light.
Other than that my eyes fell on what I think is the water strainer. Where is the through
hull for that?
I think I see 2
diesel filters. A little surprising given the spartan
maintenance otherwise. Might be a story there.
I am assuming the engine can be lifted out straight up through the
companionway. That is a nice feature.
Access looks better than many I have seen.
