What boat have I bought?

This is said to be a Maurice Griffiths design 34ft ketch, drawing about three feet. It was built in Melbourne 50 years ago, of Australian timber, and has done a full lap then a Pacific lap. She doesn't match any of the models registered to Mr Griffiths, but does have strong similarities. What model is she? Thanks.

She looks wonderful. As far as I'm concerned, she is whatever you say she is.

Re: What boat have I bought?

I used to have a steel Eventide, 26 ft, very very similar to yours but I think yours is a a Golden Hind,
There was also another one in between the two, but I just can,t remember the name, it might have been a white dove or that might have been the actual name of the boat my friend owned.. some 30 yrs ago in the UK.

She does look a bit like a Golden Hind, but I think they are 31. Whatever she is, lovely old lady - you'll draw admiration wherever you are. As with all old wooden boats, beware of fresh water wood rot.

pirate Re: What boat have I bought?

Folks bought the plans and then some modified them to suit their own ideas.. my steel Van de Stadt was one of these.. try as I might I could not place which model she was..
Nearest I can think is a Kylix 33 ketch rigged.
