We Did it !

Just a quick note to let everyone know that we have a new addition to our family.

We brought our "new to us" boat home from San Diego over the weekend.

We are now the proud owners of a 48' Tayana formaly named Honalee soon to be Argonauta.

All went well on the trip except we lost the alternator fan belt (had two spares on board). Damn thing took me three hours to install, it was very hard to get to and I had to remove the engine refridgerator compressor and belt to get at it. Now that I know how to get to it the next time will be much easier.

Anyway the trip took about 22 hours straight into the sea and wind, so not so bad as we averaged about 6.8 knts.

This boat is loaded with gear and spares and I'll probably have some pretty stupid questions to ask as I go through her and figure out what all we have. Wish us luck (I'll need it).

Re: We did it

Congrats Dave and Mary and welcome. Let's see 22 hours North of SD puts you in Ventura? Nice place we have been there a couple of times as stops on the way to the Channel Islands.

Nice boat! But, without there being pics, it didn't happen.

Re: We did it

Yes Charlie, we're in Ventura.

And yes, trust me it happened. I'll take some pictures and try to post them over the next few days.

We've been boatless in Ventura for the last year, it feels great having a boat again.

This boat is the one we've been planning on for the last 10-12 years. We're going to enjoy the years ahead as we start living our dream.

Good on the name change. Whoever named the boat misspelled Hanalei.

Or he misspelled:

Quote:
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee.
I don't remember the 60's either.

Re: We Did it !

Speakeasy,

You got it right, I misspelled it. It is Honah Lee, the PO made it one word. Hence the name on the dingy is Puff.

I kinda remember the 60's.
