Wauquiez self-tacking jib question

I am looking at buying a Wauquiez Pilot House 40 and reading about the self-tacking jib. For convenience, it looks great, but I am thinking that most of the time, especially in light winds, we would rather use the traditional jib, which can be used but has to be furled each time you tack. Question is - can you remove the self-tacking jib and use the traditional jib? Ideally, I would drop the halyard on the self-tacking jib and secure the stay to go into "traditional" mode.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks!

Re: Wauquiez self-tacking jib question

Tried to find out more by looking up the boat and found this review, which explains the situation in a bit more detail. https://www.yachtandboat.com/wauquie...-yacht-review/
They suggest that rolling the genoa to tack it isn't that big a deal. It appears that BOTH sails are on roller-furlers, so dropping the inner jib might be a bigger hassle than rolling it up, and continuing to simply roll the genoa when you tack. The inner jib appears to be a fairly large sail, so might provide more power than you think in light air. How often do you have to tack? If we're cruising, we try to avoid having to tack unnecessarily, and can plan ahead for them if needed. If we're out for a daysail we pick a heading that allows us a long stretch without needing to tack. The broker should be able to tell you if the inner forestay is easy to temporarily remove, or if the mast will come down without it.
