Re: Want buy seaworthy boat for circumnavigation

We have a Trintella 44. 7ft 2inch draft. Ketch with 20% more sail area than similar sized 44ft boats. 86hp Perkins engine. Walk in engine room, proper sleeping berths, flush deck, etc, etc. These boats were designed to cross oceans. They are known to be fast comfortable passage makers and directionally stable in big seas. They were an expensive boat when they came on the scene in 1979. The rig is huge and heavy by modern standards but with the 6 ton of lead keel they have a slow roll motion. They typically weigh in at 18 ton loaded for cruising but the large sail area makes them perform well in light wind. Trintella only made 39 of them, all made to order at vast expense. They are on the market these days with worn out 1/2 inch teak decks so grab a lot of boat for the money.
One survived a cat 4 hurricane in 1984 in the Pacific after loosing both masts. These are a comfortable boat that ticks a lot of boxes for world cruising

If you're still looking for a Morgan OI 41, I've got one that will shortly be on ebay for sale... needs work, doesn't leak (at least at the dock - hasn't been pumped in 8 months); engine runs, decks repainted, clean inside - located in St James City, FL, which is the south end of Pine Island, just west of Cape Coral

There is no shortcut for actually looking at boats, and deciding what layout you want.

Condition of the boat is key.

"needs work"
Why are folks always afraid to just come right out and say WHAT THE BOAT NEEDS?

because it would take too long to reply... if they don't mind a boat that "needs work" they'll reply; if they want turn-key, they won't. real simple. If you're interested in the boat, you'll ask.
