I really hate to break this to you, but........................

If you don't know what an ascot is - you can't become a member of the Royal Yacht Club.

Sorry, we do have to draw the line somewhere you know

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

yeah. No matter what I do (except win a big lottery) I'll never be able to afford one of these- but I can, without envy, admire such a beautiful boat.

Like the Jaguars XKE from the 60's, they are just a thing of beauty.

Love to get a trip on one in 20 plus knots

Re: Wally

I hope carstenb does not mind that I talk about the competition: If the wally are Ferraris, there are also Lamborghinis and in what regards Yachts those come from another Italian, Guglielmo Persico, that builds them in South Africa: the Southern wind. The man and some of his yachts:

Like with the Wallies they have a cup, just for them, so all the boats you see racing there are Southern Wind:

S/Y Feelin' Good Southern Wind Cup 2014 on Vimeo

And for the ones that think that this babies are only used for racing on the Med and Caribbean, some owners circumnavigate them too, even if with a needed crew:

Regarding these boats I do much rather prefer that billionaires instead of buying huge motor yacht buy those beauty things, giving on the process a job to the many sailors that are needed to race one of this babies and giving pleasure to my eyes.

I looked it up, but who was it that said they would want to be a member of any club that would have them as a member?

I believe ti was Groucho Marx who said

"I wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have me"

I'm not sure the British Royal Yacht Club allows colonialists to become members

Re: Wally

Most of these need a refreshment station halfway between the foredeck and the cockpit... Rough guesstimate is about an acre of teak forest...
