The Ingrid 38' We have owned 2 of the Bluewater Ingrid 38's. The first was purchased when we lived in Bremerton WA. We sailed her throughout the Washington St/BC Gulf Islands before sailing her to La Paz,MX; where we tearflully sold her. Our current Bluewater Ingrid was found for sale in FT Myers, FL. She's a cutter versus the ketch rig of our first boat. We've found both boats to be very seaworthy,and even with their low freeboard we're rarely drenched. The full keels have made it less worrisome about going aground. We may be slow, but we get where we're going safely.

Or it just may be the Cumulant 38, Dutch built steel round bilge which every one on the dock says looks like a plastic boat. Is that a compliment? I just happen to be the owner.

My vote would go for either the Oyster 655 or the Beneteau 57. Probably the Oyster.
Own(ed) and have sailed both extensively.

Next year, we'll be able to comment on the Bordeaux 60 once she splashes.

Hi,

I am new to this forum and love some of the boats that people have suggested. I am a real fan of the Tayana 37. However, I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the venerable CT Ketch. Here is a great example of a 54' that I would love to sail.

The crew is really a lot more important than the boat. Crews break before boats do.

Hal Roth, famous sailing author, racer and cruiser, was a pretty good judge of boats, and he chose as his last boat a Wauquiez Pretorian 35. I've always been a big fan as well, so much so that when Whisper became available after his death we bought her. Needless to say, I vote for the Pretorian.

I am happy with the Martzcraft. It is a work in progress. I have put a new Kubotota motor in it, rewired it and put on a couple of new sails. I have also installed a big autopilot. I am now in the process of preparing the deck and cockpit for a new coat of paint. I am about to replace the two deck hatches and then the money will run out for a while. By the end of next year I hope to have a new set of instruments (wind, depth, log and GPS) fully integrated and a set of solar panels. Then... te boat will be dry, comfortable and safe and the South Pacific will be a little closer.

And I just love my Martzcraft as well. Solid built and comfortable to sail and live aboard, while not the fastest 35 around it's mine. The only thing left to add is a watermaker and next year is the Whitsundays and who knows where else.
