Volvo MD30A Water pump repairable or replace ?

Looks as if the "certified Volvo tech" had snapped some bolts off as well.. I'm sure I can extract it but my concern is the interior where the impeller rides.

Considering the stakes, I’d replace. But that’s just my opinion.

Kind of depends on your skill level and the condition of the original pump housing.....

Maybe get a new replacement and then rebuild the old one for a spare.

The pump is a simple Johnson pump and rebuild kits can be had from VP or any number of pump houses.

And while you’re at it, replace the rubber pump drive that resides in the injection pump drive gear.

Nothing a honing disk wouldn't sort out but you will have to take it off

The pump drive (called a companion flange) is located directly behind the sea water pump, residing in a recess in the injection pump drive gear and driving the shaft of the sea water pump via a slot in the shaft.
The attached drawing is for a MD 31 engine, but the location is the same for the MD 30, and I think the part # might also be the same. It's item # 2 in the drawing.
