Post Vindo 45 group?

Hi,
Been away from sailing for 30+ yrs, but heading tomorrow to possibly purchase a 1983 Vindo45 that is located in Marthas Vineyard. Looks to be in fantastic shape. I know about the boat history, build quality etc. Actually, my wife is from Sweden.

the question I have is: How do they sail?

light rudder? point to the wind? go through the sea? Are they balanced?
heel over in heavy wind?

Hopefully, bring her back to the Chesapeake Bay area. Curious about your thoughts?

Re: Vindo 45 group?

I have a Vindo 50 (35 ft), but it's almost the same boat. Sails well and has no bad manners. It doesn't point too high, but otherwise sails very well on all other points of sail. It really depends on what you are comparing the boat to.

Re: Vindo 45 group?

thanks for your reply. I guess I compare my sailing experience to traditional sloop racer/cruiser models. Easy to sail, relatively fast in light air, and easy to point to the wind. I'm sure these Vindos are more comparable to Hinckley or Bristol yachts - slow and steady.

I'm in the UK and have recently purchased a vindo 45, I have her out of the water, and was wondering what these holes are for on the outside of the hull

Cockpit drains?

Quote:
... at Vindö the drains lead into heavy pipes bonded right onto the inside skin of the hull, which then lead down to the drainholes in the bootstripe. Now that's good engineering.
