Looks fast. Are you moving on to racing now?

Nice ballast ratio too. Should re right from any serious wipe out.

Cheers,

No, I've already raced, and raced, and raced. 15 years.

All on beach cats but with increasing degrees of competition starting on lakes in Mississippi then after being transferred to Florida in 1996 all along the Gulf Coast both buoy and distance racing including a yearly 100 miler

I just liked the look of the boat and even though old appears fast for it's size. It would increase my range a bit on my long weekend/vacation cruises and keep me more occupied maybe while sailing. Plus it has a tiller!!!

And a bit more performance wouldn't hurt.

Bristol 27 PHRF 240
Viking 33 PHRF 141

This would be another boat I'd need to fix a couple things on like I did with the Bristol 27 starting with a new or replacement Atomic 4.

Re: Viking 33

Any more input?

I looked at the old Viking 33 today and it looks well built. It's beam is less than 10' and its nearly 34' long. It has tiller steering

It even has the fiber glass knees (I believe this is the right terminology) for the chain plates to bolt into like my Bristol 27.

There are no cracks around the stanchions even though the boat has been heavily raced including the Annapolis-Bermuda race twice

The A4 engine is shot though so right off I have near $15,000 into it with the replacement before I paint it and possibly replace the gas tank, filters etc

Re: Viking 33

I just bought a viking 33 last year. Has been a great boat, easy enough to single hand sail, and nice size inside. Have been very happy with my purchase.

Re: Viking 33

A friend had one way back in the 80s, it sails and races very well and Ontario Yachts have a pretty good reputation.

Good luck if you buy it!

Isn't it a bit deep for your stomping grounds... seem to remember you saying you bumped bottom from time to time on your old Bristol..
