Yes. It’s a great pity we were deprived of a race between Charal, Hugo Boss and Corum.

Re: Vendee 2020
yep, either Charal, Hugo Boss or Corum would have been at the tope of the pile....
but the adage " you've got to finish to win" is never more true in Vendee race.. ....
saw a clip today that speculates if the race was to end today...right now...Jean would be catapulted to the top spot...so Apivia, et el, I'm sure are taking a nervous look backwards as Jean is right on their butts.....

Re: Vendee 2020
Talking about LeCam, don't forget some of the other guys who have redress time due. Boris Hermann is in 5th place currently, and gets six hours. Yannick Bestaven is in sixth, and gets ten hours fifteen minutes. Jean LeCam is about 350 miles behind the first place boat. Can he go that far in sixteen hours and fifteen minutes? He's going a lot faster than they are right now, but he's got to cross the doldrums too.

Re: Vendee 2020
Right now Le Cam is 192 miles behind the leader...considering he has a 16.15 time allowance, he could make that up.....if the race were to end today.
It's gonna be a close finish...that is for sure...when the dust settles, there might only be minutes between them...from where I stand, this will be a drag race to the end.
One mistake anywhere...one gear failure...etc...could spell the end of anybody.....

Re: Vendee 2020
seems to me the next leg up will be mostly windward work...some boats are better at this, than others...
ah well, another 7-10 days, and we'll know...

Are you sure about that port, Yellowtulip? I would have thought Dunedin?
There is a port called Dunedin, where most everything he might need could be found.

It seemed he tried to get to Dunedin yet eventually ended up in Lyttelton near Christchurch, easier access perhaps.

Yes, the report on the Vendee Globe website originally said Dunedin, which I typoe’d to Dundee, but as you say, he’s in Christchurch. Information from him has been sparse. I wonder if he’s particularly reticent or just doesn’t have the equipment? Anyway, my commiserations to him for having to retire and my admiration for his prolonged attempts to keep going.

Sebastian certainly seems to march to a beat from his own drummer....was watching some other video on him and his boat....certainly admire his pluck and courage .....his boat appears to have been patched together for this event...

Re: Vendee 2020
Well, 9 boats within 300 miles and past the doldrums, and another boat 190 miles behind that about to clear the doldrums. Wow!!!!!!
6 foiling boats and 4 non-foiling in the top 10. We will see if the foilers can average 3-4 knots faster.
This is going to be a final sprint like no other in this race’s history. Tired skippers, tired boats, and multiple boats in very close proximity. I expect the skippers will be absolutely shattered and boat issues will make the difference.

Re: Vendee 2020
yep, gonna be a race to the finish...might yet to get see wire finish.....several boats at the finish line at the same time...
That would be a serious bummer...race around the world and come in second place by a few yards..

Re: Vendee 2020
Wow, looks like Bureau Vallee 2 is reaping the benefits of being out west: more wind. His angle won’t be as good as Apivia’s so it’s going to be very close for those two. The others following Apivia may drop back in lighter winds if they can’t make the jump onto that tongue of breeze.
Looks like there may be another parking lot past the Azores that may allow trailers to catch back up to the leaders.
Gonna be great to watch!

Re: Vendee 2020
I've been watching Louis Burton for the last few weeks perform better than his neighbors and now he seems to be well positioned for a home run and the win.
Its going to be a great finish but my guess is that Louis will be the winner
