Re: Valiant 32 "Amazing Grace"

Now that's just wonderful. What a beauty

Robert Perry is very active on Facebook. His own page and Cruising and Sailing, and All Things Sailing. He is still working on new stuff, the latest is carbon fiber, but he is very accessible and easy to get in touch with.

Congratulations!

I am currently reading a book written by previous owners, I believe this Hull was also treated with the flame resistance resin.

Re: Valiant 32 "Amazing Grace"

I never had one but always liked their volume and set up. I would be very happy sailing one, I think (much as my 'dream' small doubleender is more of the PS34 style ...;-)

Congratulations and have fun on the water!

So exciting! What a wonderful story. Many years of fair winds and following seas.

I believe they did. Two in my marina, one we call the blister boat. It's covered with them, the other had them too but you can see where the repairs were done..

Still..a good boat. Similar to my Ted Brewer union 32.

Re: Valiant 32 "Amazing Grace"

There's a 32 in our marina. I've never seen a boat with blisters in the topsides before, but this has them, great big weeping blisters. Looks like it has the plague.

To tell you the truth, thanks to some old salts of this forum, they saved me from a very big mistake that would have cost me a lot of money in the long run.

I was told to check some aspects of the outside hull before I finished the contract on the Valiant 32...and I almost cried when I did. I inspected the hull in the spots as I was advised, and found several very soft spots in the hull where the fiberglass had separated from the core. As a result I passed on the boat, and the broker gave me my down payment back. A very close call, almost bought a boat that will probably never see the water again.

On the bright side, back in the boat hunt again, looks like I am coming full circle, looking at S&S models again.

Thanks again to the forum members that helped me from making a big mistake!

Sounds like the hull had been reskinned in the past, and had continued to blister under the new skin...
