Just plan for all contingencies and double up on your
safety measures. Take anything heavy off your engine that you'll be removing once on dry land and even drain the fluids. I like to pad everything that might get a scrape. Have some friends over and appoint one to be in charge of
safety at every inch that it is lifted.

diesel engines in sailboats. It is the economical way.
