Used masts it salvage yard

Anyone in the Chesapeake area know if any businesses or individuals who might possess a mast for a Pearson 33? Mine was blown off it's stands in the last storm.

Thanks.

Go to rigging yards, and chat the guys up, tell them what you need.

Was the mast destroyed, or do you just need the spreaders off it? Does it have a kink in it that can be sistered? You might not so much need a new mast as to have a good repair made.

Probably Maine Sail or Minaret can tell you how much over lap you need if sistering; or Left Brain Stuff. An engineer can figure it out, a boat fixer like minaret has already done the engineering foot work years ago, and just knows it now.

We've had a boom fixed by sistering, and it is now stronger than new: we're quite content with it.

It is bent in two different directions, the backseat caught on a travel lift, gave it a nice s shape.

Try calling my marina, in Deale, MD. Jon, the owner, has collected some masts from boats he chopped up. You might be able to find something that would fit.

Not only that, I heard the boat next to mine, a Pearson (30ft?), may be on the chopping block soon so that might work out for you.

I found a mast for my 30' yacht here in Brisbane for $150. It came of a ferro yacht that was being crushed. It certainly pays to ring around the local yards and see what there is laying about.
Thanks

Re: Used masts it salvage yard

There's a place here in NJ called David Beaton & Sons that has new and used spars and rigging. They have a boatyard of current and scrapped vessels that I've walked through just imagining the stories they held in their hulls. I know it's not very close to you, but if all else fails I'd give them a shout.
