Unofficial ugly sailboat thread

Ok, I'm not a huge poster, but I saw something that is just simply wrong. I was browsing the US west coast for that 'next sailboat' ... and came across a post on Craigslist. It's a Roberts design... but it just looks so *ugly*.

So as therapy, I'm sharing the link... just in case you thought it was photoshopped.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa...319081489.html

I'll post the pics in a moment... but other feel free to join in on the cheap 'therapy' when you seem something that is just 'wrong'.

I find myself intrigued by that chainplate that appears to be mostly waving in the breeze.

One man's meat is another man's poison..

That boat is possibly someone's pride and joy. And to be fair, it may not be finished yet.

44 cruising cat has got it right. We might all laugh at that cabin but the owner probably loves the 7 foot headroom and can't see anything wrong with the cabin.
Cheers

It floats, Captain Q would give it a 10...... But more? Not likely. :-)

Not a single identifying name or number on it... so I suspect you're right.

This is one that has a morbid fascination for me...

Silverado Pilothouse Cutter

I feel guilty posting, because as mentioned above, obviously someone is very proud of her, but myself? I have no words.

I agree with you but the problem is if you want to to sell it it is probably unsaleable.

But the owner of this yacht sailed into a relatively sheltered bay at Lancelin, tied it up to a mooring (probably not supposed to) and headed off to the Eastern States for three weeks. The Samsom Marine C-Breeze yacht let go of the mooring and finished up on the beach. The owner (probably late 60s) had been sailing it for 18 years (solo) and was heading North for the Winter months. (He had hoped to refloat it but another storm finished it off.)

He salvaged anything valuable and then shot thru leaving others to clean up! The yacht was rough as guts but seaworthy and it probably suited him perfectly.

Com'ON Coop!

Just because she has ugly in her name doesn't make her ugly.

Aside: Totally unfair to name a beautiful boat in such a fashion. But that would be a topic for another thread...

Haw haw, very funny, Stu!

(If so, that lone guy on the rail will be underwater soon - without warning!)

Just a couple from the "I don't know what they were thinking" collection....You be the judge. I have to admit that some, or a great amount of effort and creativity went into creating these beauties.
