Unique leak, where would you guess it's coming from? 79 CD27

I have a drip forming above my radio in this picture. The radio is mounted on the starboard side of the boat on the interior liner under the starboard deck (by the PO). I don't think any of these holes or screws go into the bottom of the deck, let alone through it. The leak is coming out of some previous radio mounting holes, there are about 6 unused holes in the liner nearby.

Since I don't think where the leak is coming out is where the water is getting in; any guesses? Portlights letting water between the cabin top and the liner? Jib track?

I've never seen the leak before, but there were leaks everywhere I've been chasing down so now I'm finding the little bitty ones.

Check your spray hood, stanchions on that side, traveler if deck mounted... those are all likely candidates.

Water trapped behind the lining material perhaps. The windows are suspects. Take the radio down before its wrecked.

I have a '77 CD 27. Mine has a few leaks too.

I'm finding that if water gets in near the bow, eventually it makes its way toward the rear of the boat. In my boat, I'm seeing water travel 15' or more sternward before it drips out on something.

The hull-to-deck joint is the source of most of my leaks. The only way I can see to really fix this is to remove the toe rail, and seal the hull to deck joint with fiberglass tape + resin.

I have a friend who glassed the hull/deck joint on his CD 27. It cured most of leaks on his boat.

I had a Cape Dory 28, and I can tell you that anything on the roof top is suspect. My best advice is to simply start there and work your way down. As already mentioned, re-bed the seahood. And I would add any fitting mounted on the cabin roof, such as a stopper or the fitting where the VHF cable and such comes through. Jib track if there is one up there. Then work your way down to whatever is on the deck. It's a long, tedious and ongoing project, but it needs to be done anyway.

Good luck !!!
