My solution, without tenting, certainly fails with termites in exterior wood!

Tenting kills the bugs that are alive at the time of tenting. It is marginally effective on the many eggs that are left behind. So it is bot the panacea some call it.

On a boat, with interior termites, the solution MUST include eliminating all sources of freshwater. If it is a cap rail, logically, repeated application of a termiticide and making sure deck scuppers are removing rain water would accomplish the same goal.

The aforementioned is not conjecture. It is based on experience dealing with the little buggers in hones and boats in FLA.

Re: Termites

Mine works on them in all locations. 100% effective, no chemicals and no cost if you have freedom in your plans.

You wouldn’t even have to leave the boat if they were just in the caprail

Anyone with a Formosa termite problem on a sailboat should read this article: TERMITES
