Re: Tension rigging specs for 2015 Jeanneau 409

We have a couple of those Gauges in the shop, full of dust ....
Bet you dont get any numbers from Jeaneau..
Rule of thumb could be 20 to 25% in the caps shrouds...

My rigger has the same mentality... he rigs boats by "eye"

I am glad I bought a gauge because the upper shrouds were @ 26% breaking strength. The lower shrouds were @ 6% and the back stays was completely off with one side @ 4% and the other @ 1%.

So I am guessing the picture I posted of my mast bend looks normal?

Looks pretty standard,,, in mast furling dont like to much mast prebend and rake , i dont see to much in the picture but dont abuse the backstay if you dont have sweep back spreaders and get the rake with the caps shrouds if you have sweep back spreaders , 26 % in your caps sounds fine , keep in mind that with sweep back spreaders most of the prebend is done with the caps as well forestay tensión and the backtsay is just almost for the show, just kidding, get a decent 20 stiff breeze and put the boat hard in a tack , wacht the mast track from the bottom and see if the mast is straight , some slack in the leeward cap is normal... Cheers.
