Tayana 42 Chainplate knee lifting

Hi all,


I was hoping to get some opinions on what appears to be some lifting on the knee holding one of the port stay chainplates on a '81 Tayana 42. Im told it happened when they first stretched the rigging and that its not an uncommon issue with these boats. Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts, history, concerns, fixes about this problem?

First, welcome to the forum. I'm wondering what it would look like if the rigging wires were de-tensioned? That might answer a few questions.

Mine is a 1989 aft cockpit model. No such issues. I haven’t heard of that being common on Tayana 42s. My first thought is that you have to open it up and see what is going on inside. What is moving in the structure?
