Tartan 372/3800 prop advice

I have recently bought a Tartan 3800 with a westerbeke 38 HP engine that drives a three bladed prop. I would like to upgrade to a folding type and I am looking for suggestions from current/past owners. Thanks John

Re: Tartan 372/3800 prop advice

Have a friend who had a Tartan 37, which was destroyed in Hurricane Sandy thathad a Vari Prop on it. I said on the boat many times and the prop was outstanding. It performed MUCH better than a fixed bladed, and reverse had plenty of thrust. He took the prop off the boat before the storm, good thing, as he has purchased a Tartan 372, and put the prop on the boat. The 372 performs admirably and has plenty of torque and thrust. Really can't say enough good things about the prop. We have a Tartan 3400 w/Volvo Saildrive and Volvo's folding prop. It's better than the fixed, but is pale in comparision to the Vari Prop. They are expensive, but well worth the $$$. Enjoy your Tartan.......Great boats.
