I have Tanzer 8.5 meters purchased last year from original owner (probably new in 1982) hauled on dry and painted bottom and when llifted the
boat on straps to return to
water noticed small crack open at /around aft section of cast iron
keel.
It is a Small gap- less than 1/4 inch but opened and closed when we set
boat on a block and lifted again.
Is a Cast Iron
keel 4.5 ft
draft two rows of stainless bolts length of keel total 12 bolts total. (two rows of 6) bolts screw down from the cabin- only caps show and they seem tight but not really tested that.
Marina people said bring it back next fall and drop the keel and Re and Re the bolts. but how?
Who knows what the bolts are bedded in? stainless bolts in cast iron. What can I do to fix the problem?
