Re: Tank sizes on 41' Formosa??

original specs included:

total water 160 gallons (ct, formosa, island trader, sea wolf, et alii were originally 120 gal fuel)
fuel 120 gallons
water under berths in main saloon., fuel over keel.

steel tanks, not necessarily stainless, fuel and water. made out of same material.

sorry, gord. i believe you found a redone boat for info. original is as i stated.
these are long legged boats designed to sail tradewinds.
aint many fuel stops in pacific ocean.

Re: Tank sizes on 41' Formosa??

very interesting ti see sailboat data changed the stats i was given when i went before sailboat data was organized and learned from thr leaky teaky yacht club. mine was stock in 1976 with 120 fuel and 160 water. most of the formosa 41s built had 120 and 160 gallons, fuel and water respectively.
but then what do i know, having one, sailing one, cruising one, and owning one. i probably do not have a freeking clue as to what i am talking about.. rodlmffao..

Re: Tank sizes on 41' Formosa??

yes, steel. i still have half tanks for water, and they are only 49 gal each. my 120 gal steel fuel tank was removed prior to my ownership--i have read all the included surveys and boat papers from the first owner to my ownership-- yes, 120 fuel and 160 water, until the former owner who laid this boat over onto santa barbara's breakwall and walked away.
the salvor changed many things within all systems, and these changes are most obvious.
